We're really excited about this announcement. We've been hearing great feedback from you about our SearchReviews feature that has been in beta, and allows you to see StumbleUpon ratings layered on your searches on the major engines - Google, Yahoo, Ask & more. This feature helps you discover great websites whether you are pressing the Stumble button or searching the web. Today we are officially launching SearchReviews for both Firefox and Internet Explorer, and announcing some really cool enhancements.
The first enhancement is that we are now showing which of your friends have rated sites a thumbs-up. StumbleUpon toolbar users will see Star ratings next to sites, along with icons indicating which of their friends like the site. This Layer of information personalizes search results without making you change your searching behavior, and provides the endorsement of friends. And the great thing is, the more friends you have on StumbleUpon, the better the friend component of SearchReviews becomes. You can add people who you feel are experts in a particular category in order to view their endorsements on search results, or just see what sites your friends have discovered. For those of you that want to add more friends from your address book, you can do so by going to the Find friends page or you can add friends one at a time by pressing the "Add as a friend" button on the top right of a member's profile page.
The second enhancement is that we are making SearchReviews available more widely across the Internet. No matter where you are, we want you to be able to discover new and interesting content. SearchReviews will be available to StumbleUpon users as you use different properties across the Internet including Google, Yahoo!, MSN, AOL and Ask. In addition, you can find SearchReviews on GoogleNews, Yahoo! News, Flickr, Wikipedia and YouTube. Now you can determine the best results and discover great sites at popular places you visit everyday.
